Hostel Natura, Iguazu Falls
Best for… getting away from it all.
Family-run Hostel Natura is a haven of lakes, hammocks, open vistas and friendly dogs. It’s well worth making the effort to travel the 17km from Foz do Iguaçu to the hostel. Those who do will be rewarded with an enthusiastic host, Milena, whose love of life is infectious – “Treat this as your home, put your feet up, relax,” he insists - and a short, simple journey to the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls.
Rooms are simple, comfortable and clean. The breakfast (included in the price) is the best hostel breakfast I’ve had in Brazil: coffee, tea, juice, a choice of cake, DIY toasties, pizza, cheese, ham, tomato, cucumber, apple, banana, a selection of melons… Because the hostel is so far from the town centre, Hostel Natura will lay on a superb buffet dinner (think steak, chips, rice, beans, salad and so on) for $R18, on request. There’s also a kitchen for guests.
Aside from its food and proximity to Iguazu Falls, the greatest pleasure of Hostel Natura lies in simply relaxing. There are two lakes to stroll around and swim in, a swimming pool if the lakes don’t appeal, bar, cable TV, Playstation, table football, free internet and wifi, a very cosy chill out area and a decking area facing the sunset.
